Who are we?
Illuminated Threads is a textile and needleart guild based in West Texas. Our purpose being to share knowledge of textile and needle arts that have been practiced throughout historyand today . This includes weaving, spinning, quilting, embroidery, crochet, knitting, tatting or any craft to do with fabric, yarn or thread. Currently the guild is active in West Texas but fellow craftsmen from anywhere are welcome to join our mailing list and share their interest in the textile arts. Beginners and experts are welcome as is anyone in between.

Members take part in live demonstrations of their crafts as well as occasionally teaching and helping out with workshops and other educational activities. While we do hold classes and workshops, we do not hold them regularly so that members are free to work on individual projects and research areas of interest. The guild is about fellowship and fun and encouraging each other to work in the textile arts.

I live in West Texas, how do I join the guild in person?
There are several ways you can find us. The easiest is to join the mailing list and then post a message introducing yourself and asking where we'll be meeting next. Or you can email Pam at ceryndip@juno.com and she can direct you. Or you can show up at one of our demos or meetings.

What is the IT Rolling Demo?
The rolling demo is a collection of examples of various textile crafts done throughout history for display at different events. Members accompanying the display will demonstrate a craft related to the display or event while interacting with the public, answering questions and explaining the various crafts and history to the best of their ability or knowledge.

The display changes depending on the event. A display at an SCA event would contain crafts of the Middle Ages. A display at a Civil War era event would contain crafts of the Victorian time period. A display at a Celtic Music Festival would feature crafts known to be practiced in Ireland, Scotland and Wales. These pictures are from the 2007 Celtfest Texas in Odessa, The 2007 Ector County Fair and a demonstration done for the local SCA in San Angelo.
